College Intern

Position Overview

 The College Intern supports the programs and operations of Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory by assisting program staff and teaching artists with program coordination, documentation, outreach, and event preparation. This internship provides college students with practical experience in nonprofit arts administration, youth programming, and community-based arts initiatives. College Interns contribute to program operations while developing professional skills in organization, communication, and collaborative project work.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Program Support

  • Assist program staff and teaching artists with preparation for workshops, classes, and program activities.

  • Support coordination of program materials and supply inventories across multiple programs.

  • Assist with setup and breakdown for classes, workshops, exhibitions, and program culminations.

  • Help ensure classroom, studio, and event spaces are organized and prepared for programming.

Administrative Support

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining program documentation including curriculum materials, syllabi, student samples, and Verification of Services forms.

  • Support organization of shared digital files used for reporting, invoicing, and program coordination.

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to program planning, scheduling, and reporting.

Event & Community Engagement

  • Support preparation and implementation of exhibitions, showcases, community events, and program culminations.

  • Assist with outreach efforts including distribution of program information and support for community engagement activities.

  • Provide logistical support during events and public programs.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with BHAC staff, teaching artists, interns, and volunteers to support program operations.

  • Participate in mentorship and professional development opportunities when available.

  • Demonstrate professional workplace conduct, including punctuality, communication, and responsibility.


Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program.

  • Interest in arts administration, nonprofit work, youth programming, media arts, or community-based arts initiatives.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, teaching artists, and community members.

  • Availability to assist with occasional evening or weekend events when programming occurs.
