OUR PROGRAMS

SessionsLA

SessionsLA is a live performance and production program that gives young people hands-on experience in music, event production, and creative collaboration. Through curated live sessions, participants learn how performances come together—from sound and staging to artist coordination and audience experience.

SessionsLA treats live events as a classroom, where learning happens in real time and skills are built through practice.

Live Production. Real Experience.

SLA

  • Participants are involved in every stage of production, including artist support, sound, stage management, and event flow. Youth work alongside Teaching Artists and industry professionals to understand how live performances are planned, executed, and evaluated.

SessionsLA emphasizes preparation, teamwork, and adaptability—skills that are essential in live production environments where timing, communication, and problem-solving matter.

  • SessionsLA brings together musicians, performers, technicians, and producers in a shared creative space. Participants learn how to collaborate across roles, respect artistic vision, and contribute meaningfully to a collective outcome.

The program also introduces youth to professional expectations within live music and performance settings, including reliability, communication, and accountability.

  • Through SessionsLA, participants gain exposure to careers in live production, music, and entertainment. The program supports skill development that can translate into paid opportunities, internships, and continued training through BHAC and external partners.

Many participants deepen their involvement in media arts, event production, or technical roles after completing SessionsLA.

Who Participates
