Media
Youth Collective
Por Vida Media Youth Collective gives young people ages 14–24 the tools, space, and support to explore broadcasting, podcasting, photography, beat-making, video, and digital media—while claiming their voice and telling their stories without compromise.
The program is rooted in the belief that young people are experts of their own experiences. Through media-making, participants develop creative skills, confidence, and agency, learning how to shape narratives that reflect who they are and what matters to them.

Participants engage in hands-on media production across multiple formats, including audio, video, photography, and digital storytelling. Youth learn how to develop ideas, capture content, edit their work, and share stories through both live and recorded platforms.
Projects may include radio segments, podcasts, short videos, photo essays, beat production, and digital features—allowing participants to experiment, collaborate, and discover the mediums that best fit their voice.

Audio-based work is often shared through KQBH 101.5 FM, while video, photography, and digital projects are published online and presented through BHAC platforms and community events. This multi-platform approach gives participants experience creating for real audiences and understanding how stories travel across different media.

Por Vida Media is built around collaboration and collective learning. Participants pitch ideas, workshop stories, and support one another through the creative process. Teaching Artists and mentors guide youth in developing both technical skills and professional habits, including communication, feedback, and shared responsibility.

Through Por Vida Media, participants gain skills that support continued growth in media arts and creative technology. Many youth move on to advanced training, paid opportunities, or leadership roles within BHAC programs, including SessionsLA and KQBH programming.
Who Participates
Por Vida Media Youth Collective serves youth and young adults ages 14–24 from across Los Angeles County. No prior media experience is required—only curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn and collaborate.
