Storytelling & Strategy
D&D
The program approaches role-playing
as a creative and intellectual practice, where stories are built collectively and each participant contributes to the direction and outcome of the experience.
-
Participants take part in guided Dungeons & Dragons sessions led by trained Teaching Artists and mentors. Gameplay emphasizes strategic thinking, collaboration, and adaptability, encouraging participants to listen closely, respond thoughtfully, and work toward shared goals.
Through character creation and unfolding storylines, participants explore themes such as responsibility, consequence, empathy, leadership, and ethical decision-making—examining how individual choices influence collective outcomes.
-
Dungeons & Dragons supports skill development that extends well beyond the table. Participants practice communication, problem-solving, and collaboration while navigating complex scenarios together. The program creates space to experiment with ideas, resolve challenges, and support peers in an environment that is engaging, thoughtful, and low-pressure.
For many participants, the program also offers consistency and a sense of belonging—supporting confidence, focus, and creative engagement over time.
Who Participates
Sessions are designed for participants who are curious about storytelling, fantasy, and collaborative play. Youth and adults participate in separate groups, creating age-appropriate spaces that support comfort, focus, and shared experience.
No prior experience with tabletop games is required. All sessions are welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to first-time players.
The Dungeons & Dragons program is open on Saturday afternoons and is offered in separate sessions for youth and adults:
Youth sessions: Ages 9–17
Adult sessions: Ages 18 and older, beginning after 3:00 PM
