OUR PROGRAMS
Cartoons & Cereal is a community-centered program that brings families, youth, and neighbors together through animation, storytelling, and shared meals. Designed as a low-barrier entry point into the arts, the program uses cartoons and conversation to create moments of connection, creativity, and belonging.

By pairing creative content with food and gathering,
Cartoons & Cereal transforms art engagement into a shared, welcoming experience.
-
Participants watch animated shorts, clips, or episodes together, followed by guided discussion, hands-on activities, or creative prompts. These moments invite reflection, laughter, and conversation—allowing youth and families to engage with storytelling in a way that feels familiar and accessible.
Activities often include drawing, storyboarding, character creation, or group dialogue, encouraging participants to respond creatively to what they’ve seen.
-
Cartoons & Cereal is intentionally intergenerational. The program creates space for children, caregivers, and community members to participate together, strengthening relationships and shared understanding through creative exchange.
By centering ease, warmth, and participation, the program removes many of the barriers that can prevent families from engaging in arts programming.
More Than a Program
While playful in format, Cartoons & Cereal reflects BHAC’s broader commitment to creating culturally grounded spaces where creativity brings people together. The program often serves as an entry point for families to learn about additional BHAC offerings and become more connected to the organization’s work.
